Weariness, tiredness, lack of motivation, we all struggle with it from time to time. Many things can push us to the point of weariness, things such as: unanswered prayer, doubt and physical disabilities. All of these can lead us to become discouraged spiritually and weary physically. When we’re in a weakened state it can be tempting to give up, but God is omniscient. He know’s all our limitations and weaknesses. He wants to become your strength when you have no strength. He wants to become your hope when you feel hopeless. He wants for you to trust him and take him at his word. He is strong and when we trust in God we will become strong in Him and our strength will be renewed.
He gives power to the weak
and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.
Sounds easy dosen’t it! It is if you change where your looking. Are you looking around at only what your eyes can see? Are you dwelling on the problems that are before you or ahead of you? The only way you can can fully trust Jesus is to know that He is in the background taking control. He is setting the circumstances of your life. He has a plan for you and it’s a great one! Colossians 3:2 says to “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” NIV. We can only do that by our will and the Holy Spirit’s leading. Here are the lyrics to a old hymn by Helen H. Lemmel.
- O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.
- Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!
- His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
